Lauren Collins, Restaurant Manager/Wine Director:
Lauren holds a BA in Romance Languages and Art History from Bowdoin College, concentrations that took her to Paris and New York where she began to dabble in the worlds of culture and fine dining, key interests for those in the wine world. Professionally, Christie's Wine Department was the first to expose her to wine in a concrete manner, but it was the WSET’s Intermediate Course that allowed Lauren to contextualize and solidify her ‘ad-hoc’ tasting experiences.
By 2005, Lauren was back in Boston having joined the Lower Falls Wine Co. wine buying team.Over her six-year tenure, she acted as auction liaison to Skinner Inc. for their Fine Wine sales, travelled to wine regions in France, Spain and the US, and tasted wines daily. In 2010, she obtained her Sommelier Certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers and a Specialist of Wine Certification through the Society of Wine Educators.
Before arriving at Chiara, she worked at Les Zygomates Bistro in Boston and utilized her service skills at a plethora of private dinners and tastings. She is a Director of the Board of the Boston Sommelier Society and is a Regional Finalist for the 2012 Chaine des Rotisseurs Young Sommelier competition. She has tasted upwards of 40,000 wines in her career.
